My journey as an artist has taken many turns, but this has profoundly affected the art I created here and will continue to affect the vision of my expression. The passion was renewed and my belief reinforced. This journey will be with me forever.

The China Trip: Philip Tinari

The following morning, we met with Phil Tinari - the incoming director at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art - for breakfast. He is a critic and curator based in Beijing and has an excellent knowledge of the contemporary art scene in China. It was a wonderful conversation and exchange of ideas. I left the breakfast with Phil feeling energized. The remainder of the day was spent catching up on work emails and setting up/confirming additional meetings for throughout the week.

On Thursday morning, I visited the National Museum to see the impressive exhibition of large, wall-sized paintings made during and after the revolution. Afterwards, I made a site visit to the Beijing American Center, which provides cultural resources about the US and organizes events and exhibitions. I also met with a husband and wife artist team and toured their studio.
