Board Track

Looking to develop a healthy and effective board? 

Join the Alliance of Artists Communities and Silicon Valley Creates for the Board Track - a day of workshops and discussions designed to help your organization develop a healthy, passionate board, embrace governance responsibilities, and build fundraising expertise. [see full agenda]

Led by BoardSource, the national leader in board development, and Silicon Valley Creates, the 2013 program includes highly interactive sessions, skill-building exercises, and role-playing to support your organization’s volunteer and staff leaders. Come discover new ways of shaping a healthy, passionate board, embracing governance responsibilities, and building fundraising expertise.

Both executive staff and board members are encouraged to attend. Lunch and refreshments provided.

WHERE

Workshops take place at the inspiring ZERO1 studios (439 S. First Street) in downtown San Jose, CA.  A special keynote performance kicks off the morning at San Jose Stage (490 S. First Street).

WHO'S INVOLVED

SPEAKERS

David Livingston Styers is a Senior Governance Consultant for BoardSource and the Director of Consulting Services/Senior Board Governance Consultant for the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership in San Rafael, CA. He has an extensive background in organizational capacity building, specializing in arts organizations large and small. He has developed board training programs for the League of American Orchestras, Chorus America, the National Guild for Community Arts Education, Theater Communications Group, among others.

Connie Martinez is the CEO of Silicon Valley Creates (a merger of Arts Council Silicon Valley and 1stACT). A longtime champion of creative placemaking and the arts, Connie has held positions as the Executive Director of Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, the Director of Strategic Initiatives for University of California Santa Cruz, the Vice President for Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network and Deputy City Manager, Planning Director and the General Services Director for the City of Mountain View, CA.
