WHAT TO EXPECT

With more than 50 attendees from across the US and Canada, we look forward to an energizing and engaging time. The agenda is jam-packed, but we have also built in time for questions and conversations, off-site visits to a variety of residency programs, a BBQ-and-marching-band party, and opportunities to meet artists and arts leaders. We hope you'll leave the Institute with one of the most important resources -- each other! -- and that you’ll continue to offer one another advice, ideas, and support as you develop your plans in the future.

With so many attendees, there won't be time for lengthy introductions about each program at the start of the Institute, so practice your 30-second "elevator speech" and you’ll have several chances to hone it during our time together!

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Nonprofit 101 day offers a chance for small-group learning about the basics of starting a nonprofit organization. We’ve selected a range of topics to cover as an introductory overview and we are excited to work with Detroit-based NEW (Nonprofit Enterprise at Work) to offer this training. With just 15 attendees, you’ll have a whole day to learn and share with your peers. At the end of the Nonprofit 101 day, we’ll join together with the other Institute attendees for food and drink, and then we launch the 2-day Emerging Program Institute!

With more than 50 attendees from across the US and Canada at the Institute, we look forward to an energizing and engaging time. The agenda is jam-packed, but we have also built in time for questions and conversations, off-site visits to a variety of residency programs, a BBQ-and-marching-band party, and opportunities to meet artists and arts leaders. With so many attendees, there won't be time for lengthy introductions about each program at the start of the Institute, but Nonprofit 101 attendees will have a chance to hone their 30-second "elevator speech" and then practice it out on each other before impressing their peers by the end of the Institute.
