DRESS

Casual! Relax and be comfortable.

OTHER ITEMS YOU MAY WANT TO BRING

  • Business cards
  • Comfortable shoes for tours
  • Umbrella
  • Travel mug and/or water bottle
  • Clothing layers

WHAT TO EXPECT

With more than 50 attendees from across the US, we look forward to an energizing and engaging time. The agenda is jam-packed, but we have also built in time for questions and conversations, off-site visits to a variety of residency programs, a block party, and opportunities to meet artists and arts leaders. We hope you'll leave the Institute with one of the most important resources -- each other! -- and that you’ll continue to offer one another advice, ideas, and support as you develop your plans in the future.

With so many attendees, there won't be time for lengthy introductions about each program at the start of the Institute, so practice your 30-second "elevator speech" and you’ll have a chance to hone it during our time together!

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Nonprofit 101 day offers a chance for small-group learning about the basics of starting a nonprofit organization. We’ve selected a range of topics to cover as an introductory overview and we are excited to work with Mary Lee Fitzsimmons, Nonprofit management and sustainability expert, to offer this training. With about 20 attendees, you’ll have a whole day to learn and share with your peers. At the end of the Nonprofit 101 day, we’ll join together with the other Institute attendees for food and drink, and then we launch the 2-day Emerging Program Institute!
