  • The shuttles will depart promptly so please plan to arrive at the recommended times noted in the schedule.
  • As an attendee you are welcome to make use of the shuttle departing from the Whitney Hotel if you are staying elsewhere.
  • If you happen to miss the shuttle, taxis/Uber/Lyft can get you where you need to go. And all locations are conveniently listed inside your nametag presented on site.

Casual! Relax and be comfortable.

OTHER ITEMS YOU MAY WANT TO BRING

  • Business cards
  • Travel mug and/or water bottle
  • Clothing layers
  • Comfortable shoes for tours
  • Umbrella

WHAT TO EXPECT

With more than 50 attendees from across the US (and Canada and Netherlands!) at the Institute, we look forward to an energizing and engaging time. The agenda is jam-packed, but we have also built in time for questions and conversations, off-site visits to a variety of residency programs, parties, and opportunities to meet artists and arts leaders. We hope you'll leave the Institute with one of the most important resources -- each other! -- and that you’ll continue to offer one another advice, ideas, and support as you develop your plans in the future.

With so many attendees, there won't be time for lengthy introductions about each program at the start of the Institute, so practice your 30-second "elevator speech" and you’ll have a chance to hone it during our time together!

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Nonprofit 101 day offers a chance for small-group learning about the basics of starting a nonprofit organization. We've selected a range of topics to cover as an introductory overview and we are excited to work with Cory Sparks, nonprofit management and sustainability expert, to offer this training. With 26 attendees, you'll have a whole day to learn and share with your peers. At the end of the Nonprofit 101 day, we'll join together with the other Institute attendees for food and drink, and then we launch the 2-day Emerging Program Institute!
