The shining heart of the residency was silence and solitude; the opportunity to wrestle with visions and fasten them to the page, to face myself, reflected in a window opening into wildness. For me, this time was a turning point in a lifetime of writing. "Making the Case" Advocacy Report Released

The Alliance of Artists Communities conducted a series of individual interviews in 2005 with a broad group representing opinion leaders, funders, policy-makers, artists, media and others, on current perceptions and awareness of artists’ residencies, and to solicit feedback on how the Alliance and the field can better communicate their value and increase their visibility to others.

The responses to these interviews, and the analysis of this research, will assist the Alliance and the field be better advocates for artists’ communities-informing the way we communicate about the field as a whole-as well as individual organizations.
