Calling All Chefs!

The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation is now accepting applications for their first, post-pilot, Chef-in-Residence (CIR) program! This is a unique opportunity to spend the year preparing meals for artists in residence while also building partnerships with local farmers and community in Southwest Florida.

There is a small but growing number of these culinary programs, including those at The Hambidge Center and the Montalvo Arts Center.

Open to chefs in all stages of their careers, and from all over the world, the CIR program places strong emphasis on sustainability, environmental conservation and stewardship. Opportunities and responsibilities include collaboration with a contracted Ecologist on the cultivation and growing of organic herbs and produce onsite, the management and operation of a commercial kitchen while maintaining a zero-waste goal, and plenty of opportunity for experimentation and pursuit of personal culinary goals!

The CIR will have the opportunity to participate in outreach both within the residency community, and in the larger Captiva Island community. Workshops, cooking classes, and designing additional growth opportunities on the Rauschenberg Estate are all possibilities.

A stipend and housing are included.

Application Deadline: August 1, 2016.
