Melissa Levin + Sanjit Sethi Join Alliance Board

The Alliance has welcomed two new members to the Board of Directors - Melissa Levin - Director of Cultural Programs, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) and Sanjit Sethi - Director, Corcoran School of the Arts and Design - George Washington University. Melissa and Sanjit were voted in by the Alliance's Organizational Members last October ahead of the Portland Conference.

"We could not be more thrilled to welcome Melissa and Sanjit to our Board of Directors," said Esther Grisham Grimm, Alliance Board Chair and Executive Director of 3Arts. "They are joining the Board at a pivotal and exciting time, right at the start of a yearlong planning process anchored in anti-oppression training led by YK Hong. Their impressive experience advocating for residency programs and artists adds immeasurably to our collective work to strengthen the field."

Melissa Levin is the Director of Cultural Programs for Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC). In this role she runs the Council's renowned Artist Residency Programs - Workspace, Process Space, Su Casa, Extended Life and their newly relaunched Paris Residency. In addition, she manages the River To River Festival, Open Studios, and the Gallery in the Arts Center at Governors Island. Throughout more than a decade working in the arts, Melissa has been committed to innovative and holistic approaches to supporting artists and the creative process. She has participated in the Alliance's annual conference since 2010 - presenting on a range of topics from Residencies in the Public Realm to Non-Traditional Residency Environments.

Sanjit Sethi is the Director, Corcoran School of the Arts and Design - George Washington University. Sanjit formerly served as the Executive Director of the Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) where he launched their renowned Thematic Residency program. Each year the thematic residency engages artists and creative thinkers around critical themes, that have included Food Justice, Immigration and Water Rights. Sanjit has taught at numerous academic institutions including the Memphis College of Art, the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology and California College of the Arts. He was Director of the Center for Art and Public Life and was the Barclay Simpson Professor/ Chair of Community Arts at the California College of the Arts.
