NEA Awards Over $2M to 69 Artist Residency Programs

The National Endowment for the Arts announced today its Art Works grants for 2013, with $23.3 million awarded in 832 grants. Among these are 69 grants for artist residency programs -- in Artist Communities, Dance, Media Arts, Museums, Music, Presenting, Theater, and Visual Arts -- totaling over $2 million in NEA support.

Since the creation of its Artist Communities division in 2009, artist residencies have seen a significant increase in NEA funding. This year, 24 grants were awarded in Artist Communities, totaling $560,000.

More than 1,500 applications were received for Art Works funding this year. "Through a rigorous peer-review panel process, the NEA ensures that projects recommended for funding are among the most creative, the most effective, and will make a real impact," said NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman.

The Alliance of Artists Communities congratulates all the residency programs awarded funding this year, and in particular is proud to celebrate the 25 Alliance member organizations awarded NEA grants:
