Willapa Bay AiR To Host 35 Artists During Inaugural Residency Season

Willapa Bay AiR has announced that its inaugural, 2014 seven-month residency program will commence March 1, 2014. Thirty-five visual artists, writers, and composers have been awarded month-long residencies, at no cost, on Willapa Bay AiR’s 16 acre site in coastal, southwest Washington State .

“We are thrilled to welcome creative individuals from 18 states as well as Japan, Bolivia, and South Africa.  Each residency, from March through September, will include two visual artists, two writers, and one composer – both emerging and established,” said Nina Macheel, executive director.

"Our vision is to support artistic individuals by providing contemplative, unfettered time to delve into their discipline," said founder Cynthia Hayward.  “A full month, removed from the cares of everyday life, enables the focus that can transform their art-making. We are also excited with the prospect of providing an environment for dynamic interdisciplinary exchange, which many residents say is a highlight of their residency experience.”
