Through the Alliance membership and meetings I have met and befriended so many people who have such a vast knowledge of the artist-in-residency field. These experts have been welcoming, open for questions, and so supportive of the emerging members.

Residency Program and Community Building Coordinator

KFW seeks a reliable, positive, and outgoing person to develop a new integrative full-time position as Residency Program and Community Building Coordinator. The Coordinator will be primarily responsible for maximizing guest experiences at Hopscotch House, the foundation’s retreat and residency center located on 10 acres, 13 miles from downtown Louisville. The Coordinator will spend 1 or 2 days a week on location there, interacting with guests as needed and working with the on-site Property Manager on scheduling, services and opportunities to advance artistic development and strengthen social justice in Kentucky.

The Coordinator will also work 3 or 4 days a week at the KFW downtown Louisville office with the staff team there to develop, implement and evaluate programs and community-building activities that strengthen KFW’s overall mission, supporting feminist artists whose work advances social justice. In addition, the Coordinator will assist with communications, especially involving new media, information tracking and analysis, and conducting research and assessment exploring how KFW programs can strengthen feminist-led and arts-centered social justice activities in Kentucky.

As part of the KFW team, the Residency Program and Community Building Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with all staff to advance Hopscotch House programs and overall KFW community building. Like all staff, the Coordinator practices compassion and respect to every member of the KFW community.

This position is a great opportunity for a person committed to advancing feminist art and social justice, who relishes helping to create a new staff position, values collaboration, and has a good sense of humor. Reliable transportation is necessary since the Coordinator will be working in two locations. Knowledge of or willingness to learn new technology and familiarity with Kentucky geography and culture are assets. KFW benefits are generous, including paid holidays, full health and dental care, and working in an environment of feminist collegiality.

Applications due June 15, 2008. For a full job description and how to apply, please visit www.kfw.org.
