ACA Harris House

Atlantic Center for the Arts Community Artist-in-Residence

Atlantic Center for the Arts is a nonprofit interdisciplinary artists' community and arts education facility dedicated to promoting artistic excellence by providing talented artists an opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the world's most distinguished contemporary artists in the fields of music composition, visual, literary and performing arts. Community interaction is coordinated through on-site and outreach presentations, workshops and exhibitions.

As a venerated international artists’ community, Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA) has a strong local presence and relationships in the community of New Smyrna Beach, Florida—a small coastal town of around 30,000. In 2012, ACA expanded its long-standing commitment to the community by launching a Community Artist in Residence (CAIR) program.

Each year, Atlantic Center for the Arts hosts two, 4 month residencies for Community Artists. The chosen artist will live upstairs in our Harris House facility and will use the downstairs as a public work area. The Community Artist will be charged with creating a project that directly involves and interacts with the community as a whole or some portion of it. The project will also leave a lasting and meaningful impact on the community.
