Cotuit Center for the Arts Artist-in-Residence Program

Emerging Program member

The CCftA Artist-in-Residence program provides serene space and time on Cape Cod for artists to develop their works, stimulate new ideas, meet peers in their field, and nurture their creative souls. This is a self-directed residency program open to visual, literary, and performing artists in all stages of their careers. Artists will have an opportunity to attend CCftA 2016 scheduled programs, including weekly critiques, mentor meetings, weekly classes, and performances.

The four-week residency includes use of the CCftA Art Studio when space is available. There will be one residency offered during the summer 2016. Residency fees are a flat rate of $500/week for an individual room in the main house with a shared kitchen and bathroom, or $875/week for a cottage for an individual or couple. There are two cottages on the rural housing campus located in picturesque Osterville, about five miles from CCftA. It’s within walking distance to the quaint center of town and is situated on a pond surrounded by walking paths. The beach is in proximity. Artists will be responsible for their own transportation and food.

Applicants are required to fill out an application form and submit work samples, a statement of intent, and two professional reference letters. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Artistic excellence and promise is the primary criterion for acceptance into the program. Applications will be reviewed by a panel comprised of CCftA faculty and staff and a jury of experts in the artists’ related field. Finalists will be interviewed by phone or in person.
