Voices of the Wilderness Alaskan Artist Residency

Non-member

The US Forest Service, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service offer a variety of residencies to artists of all mediums to take part in stewardship projects in the wilds of Alaska. Residents will be paired with a wilderness ranger, with whom they’ll travel by kayak, canoe or foot with while camping and exploring Alaskan wilderness, and assist with research, fieldwork, and other light ranger duties.

Artists are placed in the Chugach or Tongass National Forests or in the Western Arctic National Parklands.

Residencies open to art professionals in all media – visual artists, musicians, singers, composers, filmmakers and writers. Residency dates vary, but typically they are hosted June through September, lasting 7-9 days. No application fee.
