La Maison de Simon

Fontaine-sous-Jouy, France

La Maison de Simon is an art center & residence for both local and international artists including visual artists, writers, photographers, musicians and chefs created by the Simon Kasha Foundation in Normandy, France. The residency's primary focus is to inspire artists to cultivate fresh ideas by engaging in research, creation, and exploration within a nature setting. Artists will have the opportunity to interact with local artists and, if they wish, invite another artist of their choice to join them during their residency.

We strongly believe in the enriching effects of cultural exchange and the transformative influence of nature on creative perspectives.

How much of the residency experience can artists with limited mobility participate?

It depends on the level of disability, and we need to assess accommodation possibilities on a case-by-case basis. For instance, please note that the bedrooms and the main workshop are located on upper floors.

Please briefly describe the facilities and areas of the campus that are NOT accessible.

The main studio is located on the second floor, and both bedrooms are also upstairs, one on the first level and the other, which is less accessible, on the second level. Neither of the two entrances is wheelchair accessible. Additionally, as it's an old renovated barn, there are variations in floor levels throughout the residence.
