Benefits of Organizational Membership:

  • Promotion of your program, including web listing and unique web page, listings in monthly e-blasts, inclusion in newsletters and publications, and other PR, with international distribution to funders, the press, researchers, peers and others
  • Invitation to and registration discounts on annual conferences, regional meetings, institutes, and special events
  • Advocacy to funders, policymakers, media representatives, etc. on your organization’s behalf
  • Ability to post to online bulletin boards, blogs, and job listings
  • Major discounts on Alliance publications
  • Invitation to national, interdisciplinary symposia that address artists’ roles in society and philosophical issues of creativity relevant to the field
  • Participation in important surveys on field-wide issues
  • Use of Alliance Organizational Member address list once per year at no cost
  • Mailings on special issues in the field, events and resources
  • Voting privileges on issues of Alliance policy and governance

Who is eligible for Organizational Membership:

An organization who has as a primary purpose the support of living artists and creative thinkers in the creation of new work.

The Alliance of Artists Communities encourages the following standards for Organizational Members:

  • Organizations/entities that provide dedicated time and space to artists/creators of any discipline for the development of new creative work
  • Artists/creators are "in residence" for a finite period of time
  • Artists/creators are selected (whether by open application or invitation)
  • Residencies are provided for free or are significantly subsidized
To join as an Organizational Member: 

Please download the membership form and mail or fax the completed copy to us.

Dues = $500 - 5,000/year (based on budget*)

  • Budget < $350,000 = $500/year 
  • Budget $350,000+ = budget x 0.00175 (not to exceed $5,000)

*If your residency program is part of a larger institution, you may calculate dues based on your residency program budget only.

Small residency programs working collaboratively may qualify for Cohort Membership

Note: Alliance membership is based on the calendar year. Renewals are sent out once annually, though you may choose to renew later in the year.
