Check out the following grant opportunities specifically suited for artist residency programs:...

The Studios of Key West

The Studios of Key West offers up to 35 juried one-month residencies per year to working artists and writers from around the world. Residencies are awarded to visual artists, writers, composers, performers, and interdisciplinary artists.

The TSKW creative campus includes a newly renovated art deco building with exhibition space, classrooms and 9 studios (utilized by local artists). Nearby, a lush sculpture garden surrounded by 2 cottages and apartments house our visiting Artists in Residence.

Three of the four residency spaces have attached a small live/workspace which is appropriate for non-industrial art making and writing. Residencies are for one month, and begin on the 16th of the month and conclude on the 14th of the following month. (e.g. artists may arrive on April 16 and must depart on May 14).

Resident artists are requested to connect with the Key West community in the form of a class, workshop, reading, performance or special project, to be agreed upon by the artist and The Studios. These are given in exchange for their residency. The acceptance of a program depends on many factors, and program proposals may not be scheduled even if an artist is granted a residency.

Currently, The Studios has a no pet and no overnight guests policy, this includes spouses, partners, children and friends.

Our ongoing programming includes an extensive workshop season, concert and performance schedule, free lectures, exhibitions, innovative arts projects, and cultural advancement ideas. Key West, Florida: United States

Key West is an island community, two miles by four miles wide, at the very end of the road. Most people get around on bicycle or foot, and the neighborhoods are compact and filled with historic architecture and tropical plant life. There are Cuban groceries and café con leche on every other corner, and a mix of Latin and Caribbean influences everywhere. Known for blue skies, open water and mangrove islands, and 70 degree days in winter, Key West is removed from the American mainland by 120 miles of bridges and small islands.

"I began some mornings with a mile-long walk to Higgs Beach, standing at the top of the pier and watching in perfect quiet as the sun slowly rose. Once orange and then yellow had amply filled the sky, I would begin the languorous walk back to my writing cottage, picking up a cafe con leche at the White Street Sandwich Shop along the way. I still can't think of a more perfect way to begin any writing day." (excerpted from the New York Times)
— Cheryl Tan
