Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts

Located in a unique Prairie-style residential complex in the vibrant rural town of Nebraska City, Nebraska, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts awards up to seventy juried residencies per year to established and emerging visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists from across the country and around the world. Residency awards are 2 to 8-weeks in length. Each resident receives a $175 stipend per week, free housing, and a private studio.

Josephine Sculpture Park

Founding director and artist Melanie VanHouten established the Josephine Sculpture Park (JSP) in 2009 on land that was formerly her grandparent’s farm. It is the only sculpture park in the state of Kentucky. JSP features over 80 artworks across 40 acres.

JSP’s mission is to connect people to each other and the land through the arts. The Park provides creative arts and nature education to the community and transformative opportunities to artists while conserving the beauty of native landscapes.

As a programmatic site of the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans hosts artist residencies, providing working spaces on the Center’s two-acre campus for both local and national artists. Beginning with pilot programs in 2013 and officially opening in 2015, the Center has provided residencies to nearly 260 local and national artists.
